EU Implements UN Security Council Sanctions against North Korea 

On 12 December 2016, the EU published a press release in which it stated its intention to implement UN Security Council Resolution 2321 (2016) – see previous blog.  

The EU has blacklisted 11 individuals and 10 entities – i.e. it has added these to the list of parties subject to an asset freeze and travel ban. See:

Other information: Pak Chun Il has served as the North Korean Ambassador to Egypt; provides support to KOMID, a designated entity (under the name: Korea Kumryung Trading Corporation). Date of designation: 30.11.2016.

As an overseas-based representative of DCB, it is suspected that he has facilitated transactions worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and he is likely to have managed millions of dollars in North Korea related accounts with potential links to nuclear/missile programmes.
